April was a good month. I can’t complain. I met my goals at the final hour of April even though I had already come to terms that I wouldn’t be meeting my goal to pay $2,000 towards my credit card bill.
On April 29th, I still had $875 left to pay and I was able to pay the entire balance the following day! How you may ask, well it’s because I was able to break my lease at my apartment and a realtor was able to locate someone who was interested in moving in. Since I paid half of my last month’s rent when I moved in, I only had to pay half of my rent for May because May will be my last month in my apartment. I was shocked at how quickly the realtor found a tenant to take over my lease. Now I’ll have to switch my focus to selling my household items and getting rid of the clutter. Oh boy!
My goal for May is to pay $3,600 towards my Bank of America credit card. Today I am making a payment of $1,665 and will have another $2,000 left to go for the month. Part of me feels like I should hold on to some of the money to provide myself with a cushion for my move, but I think I’ll be fine. It’s either go big or go home, right? I’m going big ALL THE WAY TO A ZERO DEBT BALANCE!!!! 🙂 After this month, my credit card balance will be in the teens – $18,464!
I have friends that are visiting me this weekend. Thankfully, I have already purchased tickets in advance for the activities we’ll be participating in, which will help with my expenses. My goal is to spend no more than $120 for the weekend. That will mainly include my meals. I am hoping to actually stay under $100. I love when I have friends and family visiting me because one I enjoy the company and secondly because I get to be a part of their first time experience in the city. Having to entertain friends and family can be costly, so for me I have learned to plan things in advance and budget.
I receive so much joy volunteering, so my plan in May is to volunteer at least twice at a few local organizations. Although May will be a hectic month, I have to find the balance in doing things that add value to my life.
Being intentional about what you want is important in being a minimalist.
